FAQs
What does HbA1c measure?
HbA1c reflects your average blood sugar over roughly the past two to three months. The ADA categories are below 5.7% normal, 5.7% to 6.4% prediabetes, and 6.5% or above in the diabetes range.
What is estimated average glucose (eAG)?
eAG translates your A1c into the same units as a glucose meter. It uses the ADAG study formula, estimated average glucose in mg/dL equals 28.7 times your A1c minus 46.7.
Does a single high A1c diagnose diabetes?
No. A diagnosis usually needs confirmation, for example a repeat test, and is made by your physician in the context of your full picture.
