FAQs
What is the GAD-7?
The GAD-7 is a validated seven-item questionnaire that screens for and measures the severity of generalized anxiety. Each item is scored from 0 to 3 based on how often a symptom has bothered you over the last two weeks, for a total score between 0 and 21.
What does my GAD-7 score mean?
Scores of 0 to 4 suggest minimal anxiety, 5 to 9 mild, 10 to 14 moderate, and 15 or above severe. A score of 10 or higher is a common threshold for further assessment for an anxiety disorder.
Is the GAD-7 a diagnosis?
No. The GAD-7 is a screening and severity tool, not a diagnosis. A high score means it is worth discussing your symptoms with a qualified clinician, who can make a diagnosis and talk through options.
